Our Story

We have created this blog to to share our adoption story with our family and friends. Long before we were married or learned of our fertility limitations, we discussed adopting some day. Well, that day is now! We are excited to be adopting an infant from Vietnam and look forward to sharing the details of our adoption progress, education and experience.

Since “Our Story” is the most visited page on this blog, I assume people may have some questions about who we are or some of the other details of our story. I realize that I haven’t put much of that information on this blog. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comment section of this page or send me an email and I’ll be happy to answer them! Whether in an additional post, or a Q&A on this page, or in an email…I’ll try to be as honest as possible. If I’m not prepared to answer it, I’ll let you know that, too!

5/14/07-Mailed Home Study History Packet to agency

7/1/07-(re)Sent I-600A form to USCIS

9/6/07-Final Homestudy Meeting

9/25/07-Received date for Fingerprinting Appointment from USCIS

10/3/07-Fingerprinting Appointment in Charlotte

10/26/07-Received I-171H from USCIS

11/26/07-Mailed documents for Embassy Authentications

12/9/07-Received Embassy Authentications

12/12/07-Dossier to Vietnam! (8 months, 1 week, 1 day after original application to agency)

7/3/08-Referral! (6 months, 3 weeks after DTV)

7/10/08-I600 sent to agency

7/22/08-USCIS acknowledgment of I600 receipt

8/29/08-USCIS I600 preliminary approval (29 business days!)
